An executive chef's coat is worn in front of guests, cameras and the whole brigade, so it has to look right and still work through a full service. Benjima makes custom chef coats for fine dining restaurants, hotel kitchens and private dining clubs, with the fabric, cut, trims and embroidery chosen by you.
We look after the whole order for you: pattern work, fabric sourcing, prototypes, embroidery, tailoring, inspection and delivery. One merchandiser stays with you from your first sketch to the day the coats arrive, and every choice that changes the finished coat, from the shade of the piping to the height of the crest, comes to you first.
Getting a chef's coat right is mostly about small things: a cuff that stays clear of the board, buttons that survive the laundry, a collar that sits flat under the lights. We would rather settle those details with you on a prototype than discover them in a delivery.

Every custom coat order starts with a prototype made to your design, ready in 7-10 business days. Your chefs can wear it through a real service, send it through your laundry and check how it looks on the pass before you approve anything for production.
The prototype shows the real cotton, the real cut, the real piping colour and the real embroidery. Once you sign it off, it becomes the reference every coat in the run is checked against, so the coats that arrive at your kitchen door match the one your team already tried.

The video follows a custom chef coat through our workshop: pattern cutting, fabric checks, embroidery, sewing, hand finishing and the final inspection before each coat is pressed and hung. It is the route your coats will take, and you get photos at each stage so you know exactly where your order is.
A tailored coat is easier to agree on when everyone can see how it is made. Share the video with your head chef, your general manager or your design team before you order, and use it to settle the details that matter most to you, such as the cuff style, the type of button, the piping colour or where the crest sits.
Happy to talk instead? Book a short call and we will go over cotton choices, trims and embroidery placement with you, at a time that suits.

A prototype first, honest advice on fabric, and one merchandiser who answers for your whole order.
Your prototype is ready in 7-10 business days, so your chefs can try it on a real shift. Nothing moves to bulk until they have worn it and you have told us it is right.
Bespoke designs start at 50 pieces, which suits a single restaurant or a boutique hotel. Patterns are stored after approval, so coats for new hires match the originals exactly.
Fabric, trims, embroidery and hand finishing are chosen and checked by the same in-house team that sews your coats, so you never chase separate suppliers for answers.
Each coat in your order is inspected individually rather than by sample. You get photos before packing and a date for every step, and if a date moves, you hear it from us first, with the reason.

A chef's coat is judged after months of service and commercial washing, not on the day it arrives. That is why the cotton is pre-shrunk before cutting and given a softening finish that reduces creasing, so sleeves stay the right length and the front stays smooth.
Pockets and plackets carry small bar-tacks at every stress point, and the embroidery thread is bleach safe. The goal is a coat your chefs are still proud to wear on the pass next season.

Choose the style that fits your kitchen and the guests who see it. Every option can carry your crest, labels and buttons.

Long-staple combed cotton with French cuffs, soft against the skin and smart on camera.

Piping along the collar, lapel and cuffs, dyed to your Pantone so it sits with your brand guidelines.

A concealed magnetic placket for a clean modern line and a coat that comes off quickly.

A shaped European fit through chest and waist, made for open kitchens where guests are watching.

Deep vat-dyed black with charcoal stitching and gunmetal buttons for a darker, modern look.

A lighter option for banquet prep and summer kitchens, with the same tailoring and finishing as long sleeves.

A chef's coat carries your restaurant into the dining room, so the branding has to be precise. Crests, star emblems and executive titles are stitched on computerised embroidery machines with careful registration, even on fine cotton that tends to pucker. Bleach-safe thread keeps logos colourfast through kitchen laundering.
Each chef can have their own name and title on the chest. Send us a roster of names, titles and certifications, and every coat is personalised in your chosen typography. Inside, woven satin neck tapes and your own labels finish the coat the way a tailored garment should be finished.
Embroidery positions are digitised once and saved, so every reorder places the crest at exactly the same height and width. When a new sous chef joins, you send a name and a size, and the new coat matches the rest of the brigade on the pass.
The right coat depends on who wears it and where. A chef on a hot line needs something different from a chef who greets guests at the table. Before you order, it helps to decide on three things: the fabric, the cut and the fastenings.
Long-staple combed cotton is soft, breathable and resists pilling, which makes it the natural choice for executive coats. Stretch weaves with added elastane recover when chefs bend and reach, so elbows do not bag. If your chefs cook under stage lights or in open kitchens, breathable cotton keeps them more comfortable.
A fitted European cut looks sharp in open kitchens and on camera, while a classic cut gives more room for layering. Either way, sizes come from one approved pattern, so every chef in the brigade wears the same coat in their own size.
Decide where the coat will be seen first. The fabric, cut and finish usually follow from that.
Hand-rolled fabric knot buttons give a traditional finish. Concealed magnetic plackets close cleanly with one hand and come off fast, while matte gunmetal snaps give a firm closure. Apron loops at the back neck stop straps sliding during service. Your prototype can show each option on your chosen fabric, so you can compare them.
Watch a custom chef coat order come together, one step at a time.

A coat is judged by how it feels at the end of a double shift. Here are four details we always get right.
Long-staple combed cotton lets air through, keeping chefs comfortable beside the stove and under the lights of an open kitchen.
Stretch weaves recover after bending and reaching, so the coat keeps its shape instead of bagging at the elbows by evening.
French fold-back cuffs turn up to keep sleeves clear of the board and well away from the sauce.
A slim sleeve pocket holds tweezers and a pen, so plating tools stay close without spoiling the chest.
One supplier for the whole brigade, so cut, colour and crest stay consistent from the executive chef to the newest hires.

Bulk runs take 18-25 business days, and every single coat is inspected by hand.

Bespoke designs start at 50 coats per design. That keeps a custom programme realistic for a single restaurant, a private dining club or one hotel kitchen, without tying up money in stock you do not need. Sizes can be mixed within the order, and approved patterns are stored, so smaller top-ups for new hires reproduce the same cut and trim.
Yes. Send us a roster of names, titles and certifications, and each coat is embroidered in your chosen typography. The layout is checked on your prototype first, so you see the lettering size and position before the full order is stitched.
Long-staple Egyptian combed cotton, 2-ply cotton sateen and lighter poly-cotton blends with 4-way stretch. We explain how each one feels, breathes and washes, and the prototype lets your chefs compare before you decide. Each fabric is pre-shrunk before cutting, so lengths stay stable.
Prototypes are ready in 7-10 business days. Once you approve, bulk tailoring takes 18-25 business days. You get dates for each stage with your quote and photos as the work moves along, and any change comes to you first.
Yes. Contrast piping is dyed to your Pantone reference so it sits with your brand colours. Buttons can be hand-rolled cloth knots, bone, engraved gunmetal snaps or concealed magnets, and finishes can be matched to the hardware in your dining room. Every option is shown on the prototype first.
The cotton is pre-shrunk and treated to protect fibre strength, which helps it resist pilling and yellowing. Coats are made to go through frequent washing and still keep a crisp, formal drape on the pass.
Every coat is inspected individually rather than by sample. Senior tailors check seam alignment, button security, embroidery density and measurements against your approved prototype, and you get photos before anything is packed and shipped. If something is not right, it is fixed before your coats leave us.
Yes. We ship worldwide on DDP terms, which means duties are paid and customs paperwork is handled for you. Priority air express suits openings and menu launches that cannot move, and the coats arrive on hangers, ready to wear. Each coat travels in its own polybag.
